Alois Takawira Mangwende in his early years

Alois Takawira Mangwende was born in 1945 in Murewa, Zimbabwe. He received his early education at various mission schools, which laid the foundation for his academic and professional journey.

He later attended Ranche House College, furthering his education and development. To pursue higher education, Mangwende completed an American-sponsored diploma in sales and marketing before moving to England, where he obtained a diploma in political and social sciences and a BA (Honors) degree in economic development.

Political and Professional Career

While in England, Mangwende was a senior member of ZANU-PF’s London branch, playing a pivotal role in Zimbabwe’s liberation movement. After independence, he served as Under-Secretary in the Ministry of Youth, Sport, and Recreation, significantly contributing to sports development.

His leadership extended to media governance as General Manager of Zimpapers and later to national security, where he helped establish the Special Constabulary wing of the police force.
